Touching hearts and lives
Less than a week before Christmas, waves of floods hit the state of Johor on 19 December 2006. Disaster struck again on 5 January 2007.
More than 100,000 people were evacuated from their homes and temporarily housed in over 90 relief centres across the state. |

Despite the challenges, our Nestlé colleagues, especially those in Johor, spared no effort in lending a helping hand. Apart from distributing product hampers and goodies bags to the victims, they worked tirelessly to provide MILO®, NESCAFE®, MAGGI® noodles and Nestlé breakfast cereals to flood volunteers and rescue teams as well. Children affected by the flood also received NESPRAY® milk powder as nourishment.
Meanwhile, other caring and generous Nestlé staff collected food items, toiletries, blankets and clothing for the flood victims and helped to clean up the homes of colleagues and employees of Long Term Partners and dealers affected by the floods.
Said a Nestlé volunteer, "We were greatly encouraged by the support of the public and the Johor authorities, but what drove us most was the thought of spreading some cheer to those around us. This kept us in high spirits throughout our relief efforts."
