When you have kids in the house, mornings can either be a dream or a nightmare. Unless you have little angels, waking up your kids and getting them prepared in time for school can be a source of morning madness. Here are some ideas you can try with your kids to ease the madness.
Sing to the dawn
Younger children sometimes get a real kick out of waking up to songs and marching to rhymes. Playing their favourite tunes as a wake up call is a great way to get them going without them kicking up a big fuss. |

Change of scene
Break the weekday routine. Choose a quiet weekend to set the breakfast table in the garden or balcony, and enjoy some relaxing time together.
Conquering the clothing wars
Try laying out some clothes for your kids the night before. Get your kids to help in choosing their outfit, so that they will look forward to wearing what they chose, and make it much easier for them to get dressed in the morning.
The snatch and dash
How many times have your kids missed the school bus because they couldn’t find their homework or haven’t packed their schoolbags? Preparing for school the night before and leaving their bags by the door makes it a lot easier and faster when it comes to catching the bus!
Put early risers to work
Morning persons are gems in the family. Give them special tasks to do, like helping with breakfast, setting the table, waking up the others or helping the younger ones get dressed. This sets a good example for the other kids.
