Milk - More than just a beverage
Feedback   Send to Friends   Print

Milk is one of the most widely consumed products in the world, and is a major ingredient in thousands of beverages and foods. It’s also one of the most nutritious foods around, offering more essential nutrients than any other single food.

Just add milk…
There are many interesting ways of including milk in your diet – at breakfast, lunch or dinner. Here are just a few ideas to get you started.

Breakfast
Add it to your morning cup of NESCAFÉ®, tea or MILO®. Or add it to a bowl of NESTLÉ® FITNESSE™ Breakfast Cereal. If you’re watching your waistline, choose from the many non-fat or low-fat options out there.

Lunch
A cheese sandwich for lunch is a tasty way of supplementing your milk intake. Or blend milk with your favourite fruit or ice cream to make a delicious smoothie or milkshake any time of the day!

Dinner/dessert
Why not treat yourself to a NESTLÉ® BLISS® Yogurt Drink after dinner in place of a pudding for dessert?

Calcium… our bones’ best friend
One of the key benefits of milk is that it is rich in calcium – the most abundant mineral in the human body. The calcium contained in milk is highly absorbent, offering more calcium value than most other sources.

Around 99% of the body’s calcium is found in our bones and teeth – so it is important to consume enough calcium to keep them strong for life. Starting this healthy habit in early childhood can help prevent chronic diseases like osteoporosis later in life.

Milk as a source of calcium
Milk provides approximately 300mg of calcium per 8oz/240ml serving.

Good To Know
Milk flavoured with chocolate, vanilla or strawberry is as nutritious as unflavoured milk. Enjoy them as part of a healthy, well-balanced diet.Want to give yourself and family the goodness of milk-based desserts? Check out our irresistible recipes here.
