Nestlé Tees off for Charity

NESTLÉ TEES OFF FOR CHARITYExclusive charity golf invitation event held at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.

Kuala Lumpur, 15 July 2012 – Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad today hosted an exclusive charity golf invitation event at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) in aid of 10 orphanages, in line with its business philosophy to Create Shared Value for its shareholders and society.

It was also an opportunity for Nestlé Malaysia to foster relations with its key corporate partners, customers, suppliers and associated government agencies, who were the participants of the golf event.

The golf event is also part of the Company’s continuing centenary celebrations, which was launched in March this year to mark its 100 years of presence in Malaysia where it first began operations in Penang as the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company in 1912.

"Funds donated to these orphanages are consistent with the theme for the 100 Years Celebrations, which is, '100 Tahun Nestlé Di sisimu' because Nestlé has been by the sides of Malaysians for the last 100 years, providing good quality food and beverages to a wide community of individuals and organisations. It is also a reflection of our commitment to continue being by the sides of Malaysians for the next 100 years and beyond," said Managing Director of Nestlé Malaysia, Mr. Peter Vogt.

NESTLÉ TEES OFF FOR CHARITYNestlé constantly engages with various charity organisations through our Creating Shared Value programs.

Present at the event was Chairman of Nestlé Malaysia, Y.A.M. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail, who together with Mr. Vogt presented cheques amounting to a total of RM120,000 to the recipients from Shelter Home; Good Samaritan Home; Persatuan Diabetes Malaysia Cawangan Selangor; Persatuan Orang Yang Amat Cacat Akal; Gereja Charis Puchong (House of Joy); Pusat Jagaan Nur El Amin; Pusat Jagaan Mesra Limpahan Kasih; Pusat Jagaan Nur Hikmah; Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak San Pedro; and Persatuan Rumah KIDS, which each received RM12,000.

"Nestlé constantly engages with various charity organisations through our Creating Shared Value programs and today's recipients have captured our attention based on their noble efforts and dedication in reaching out to and taking care of those who are in need. We understand that the expenses needed to operate these institutions on a day-to-day basis are extremely costly and therefore hope that the funds raised today can help ease their financial burden," added Vogt.

Creating Shared Value is a Nestlé business philosophy, which states that in order for the company to create long term value for its shareholders it must also create value for the society. It focuses on three areas: Nutrition, Water and Rural Development.
