Nestlé ROCKS: Helping Underprivileged Mothers Bake with Dignity

Honouring the spirit of giving this Ramadhan, Nestlé Reaching Out to Communities and Kids (ROCKS) organised a kuih raya workshop for underprivileged mothers at the MAGGI Masak-Masak Kitchen at Nestlé Malaysia’s Head Office Unit located at Surian Tower. This initiative aims to train and equip these women with delectable kuih raya recipes, enabling them to generate additional income for the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations.

Renowned veteran Nyonya Chef, Ms. Florence Tan conducted the hands-on workshop. Armed with her infectious personality and baking skills, she showcased four of her signature recipes which incorporated our main product sponsor, NESTUM. Recipes included NESTUM Coffee Delight, NESTUM Droplets, Classic NESTLÉ CORNFLAKES Pop and Brownies made with NESCAFÉ pure soluble coffee.

The 16 participants from Suri@Salam and Salam Bakery & Pastry Centre, were divided into groups of 4 where they tried their hands at making these scrumptious cookies from scratch as glorious aromas filled the MAGGI Masak-Masak Kitchen. Participants then brought back the fruits of their labour to be shared with their families at home.

The baking workshop was followed by a talk given by the Executive Director of Dignity & Services (D&S), Ms. Helen Teh gave an inspirational talk to the participants. The talk revolved around the background of and success behind D&S in helping single mothers achieve their dream of owning and building small businesses in the long run.
