Nestlé nourishes charity homes

Subang Jaya, March 24, 2012

As part of its centenary celebrations, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad recently held an event at Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (RACTAR) in Subang Jaya to kick start its Nutritious Meal Boxes Charity Drive by giving away the boxes to eight charity homes.

Present at the event was Chairman of Nestlé Malaysia, Y. A. M. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail, who distributed the meal boxes to the recipients from Madrasah Darul Atiq; Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim & Miskin Peyakin Klang; Masjid Bulat; Cheshire Home; Myanmar Refugee Kids, Zo Centre; Rumah Bakti Dato’ Harun; Rumah Kanak-kanak Tengku Budriah; and RACTAR.

“Nestlé Malaysia is celebrating its 100th year of being in the country and as part of the celebrations, we will distribute 10,000 of our nutritious meal boxes to various charity organisations, including the eight we have here today,” said Puan Zainun Nur Abd Rauf, Executive Director, Human Resource and Group Corporate Affairs of Nestlé Malaysia.

The distribution of the meal boxes is in line with the Company’s business philosophy of Creating Shared Value (CSV), where the Company believes that in order for it to be successful it must create value not only for its shareholders but also for the communities in which it operates.

Y. A. M. Tengku Puteri Puan Sri Datin Seri Norzehan said, “It is heartening to see that there are companies such as Nestlé, which believes in doing business in an ethical and sustainable manner, which benefits everyone, especially local communities.”

Also present at the event to give a helping hand were the Nestlé REACHING OUT to COMMUNITY & KIDS volunteers. Also known as Nestlé ROCKers, the volunteers are part of a Company volunteer programme initiated in 2005, which aims to encourage employee involvement in the communities where the Company operates in.
