Penang - The Nestlé Nourishing Malaysia Showcase, which first made its debut in 2006, returns this year in a bigger way to mark the Company’s 100 years anniversary in Malaysia. This time around the Showcase will take place in Penang, where Nestlé first started out as the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company in 1912.

To be held from the 27th to 29th of April 2012 at the Straits Quay Convention Centre, the Showcase will take a different twist from previous years, as visitors will be taken through a demonstration of healthy lifestyles and activities in line with the Nestlé promise of “GOOD FOOD, GOOD LIFE”. The Showcase will be divided into sections that will target the different groups – schoolchildren, mothers, youth and general consumers.

“Instead of highlighting our products directly, we believe it would be more beneficial to promote healthy lifestyles and diets through activities that consumers can relate to. For instance, we will have a ‘Nestlé School’, a recreation of a typical school featuring activities that normally take place in a school setting. And supporting this will be a replica of the original iconic MILO van, which we can all relate to as part of the sports activities in schools. There will be something for everyone, from educational and fun activities to tasty and nutritious food, all under one roof, throughout the weekend,” said Ms. Cher Siew Wei, Corporate Wellness Manager of Nestlé Malaysia.

Throughout the weekend, there will be various activities that will appeal to all consumers and these include sessions to educate them on making healthy choices using food labels, a martial arts coaching clinic sponsored by MILO, cooking demonstrations using nutritious Nestlé products, a health-check area which will feature a calculator to determine the amount of sodium in your food, and special performances from the various Nestlé brands in the form of games and high energy dances.

Nestlé Nourishing Malaysia Showcase “Instead of highlighting our products directly, we believe it would be more beneficial to promote healthy lifestyles and diets through activities that consumers can relate to," said Ms. Cher Siew Wei, Corporate Wellness Manager of Nestlé Malaysia.

“We began our operations here in Penang in 1912, thus, we feel it is fitting for us to have our Nourishing Malaysia Showcase here in our centennial year, as a way for us to thank our consumers for welcoming our products into their homes in the last century. We are committed to continue providing our consumers with tasty and nutritious products for another century and beyond, as reflected in the theme of our 100 years celebrations, ‘100 Tahun Nestlé di sisimu’,” added Mr. Khoo Kar Khoon, Communications Director of Nestlé Malaysia.

The Nestlé Nourishing Malaysia Showcase will be launched by the Governor of Penang, His Excellency Tun Dato’ Seri Utama (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abbas together with Nestlé representatives, Y.A.M Tan Sri Dato’ Syed Zainol Anwar Jamalullail, Chairman of Nestlé Malaysia, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Frits van Dijk, a member of the Board of Directors of Nestlé Malaysia, and Mr. Peter Vogt, Managing Director of Nestlé Malaysia.

In previous years, the Showcase has taken place at various locations around the country, such as Klang Valley, Johor, Sabah and Sarawak. Nestlé expects that this year’s showcase will attract over 15,000 visitors throughout the weekend.

For the public’s convenience, there will be free shuttle bus service by Rapid Penang, every 50 minutes from 10am to 8pm, throughout the weekend. The pick-up and drop-off points are the jetty at Weld Quay Bus Terminal, Lane 1 at Komtar Bus Interchange and opposite Plaza Guerney on Jalan Kelawai.
