With the theme 'Diversity and Inclusion', the ACCA Malaysia Sustainability Reporting Awards (MaSRA) 2013 was held recently, to recognise best practices in sustainability reporting within Corporate Malaysia. Since its commencement in 2002, these Awards have served as an important platform to create awareness on corporate environment and social responsibility and benefits of reporting to businesses nationwide.

This year, in partnership with Talent Corp, a new award category on 'Gender Diversity' was introduced, recognising organisations that report on their best practices on gender diversity and efforts to support women talent.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Jennifer Lopez, Head of ACCA Malaysia, said: "As the world’s most diverse professional accountancy body, ACCA has recognised from the onset that diversity can enhance business performance and the operation of a modern finance and accounting function. It has been our pleasure to work with Talent Corp on the Awards programme. We are very excited to bring this awards programme back this year because we believe that there are many unsung heroes within Corporate Malaysia whose business sense and practices have contributed greatly to the nation’s development and reputation."

The Awards, now in its tenth cycle, aims to give recognition to organisations which report and disclose full sustainability, environmental or social information. Ultimately, the ACCA MaSRA helps underline the business case for sustainable practices and development. Judging criteria were based on completeness, credibility and communications. The panel of judges for 2013 consist of:

  • Mr Goh Ching Yin* - Executive Director, Strategy and Development, Securities Commission Malaysia
