NESTLÉ CELEBRATES 10 ROCKING YEARS OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness company Nestlé Malaysia held a ROCKing celebration recently, commemorating the 10th Anniversary of its Reaching Out to Community and Kids (ROCKS) Employee Volunteer Programme.

During the ROCKS 10th Anniversary Celebration held at Nestlé Malaysia’s headquarters in Mutiara Damansara, Mr Alois Hofbauer, Managing Director of Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, re-launched the ROCKS Programme and unveiled a new ROCKS Employee Appreciation Programme. The top 10 Nestlé employees participating in the ROCKS Programme in 2014, fondly known as “ROCKers”, were also recognised for their dedication over the year and were presented with certificates of appreciation.

Established in 2005, the ROCKS Programme is a national-scale initiative, encompassing more than 5,700 Nestlé employees across Malaysia. As part of Nestlé’s philosophy of Creating Shared Value (CSV), which is a fundamental aspect of Nestlé’s way of doing business, the programme aims to enrich the lives of those in need and encourages Nestlé Malaysia employees to actively participate in the Company’s community outreach initiatives. Over the past 10 years, the ROCKS Programme has brought joy to over 30 charitable homes throughout the nation.

Mr. Hofbauer said, “We are pleased that we have been able to contribute positively and in meaningful ways to the community over this past decade. In line with our CSV approach, we are also very proud that our employees see the value in volunteering their time and energy to help those in need. It has indeed been a remarkable 10-year journey for ROCKS in Malaysia, and I am certain that ROCKS will continue to widen our reach to even more deserving causes in the community as we move forward. Nestlé truly believes that it is possible to do well as a Company, by doing good for the society, and we will continue to seek out opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of the communities in which we operate in.”

Commenting on the Programme, Nurul Izzah Ishak, a top Nestlé ROCKer said, “I firmly believe that everyone has an important role to play in supporting the underprivileged within our community. ROCKS is an excellent platform to share my passion with fellow ROCKers in contributing towards a better society. The opportunities that ROCKS provides not only enable us to make a positive impact on the lives of others, but also goes to show that volunteering can be a fun experience too. I joined ROCKS in 2013 and it has been an extremely rewarding experience so far. I look forward to an even better 10 years ahead!”

As part of the 10th Anniversary Celebration, Nestlé also had several ROCKS exhibition booths and a photo gallery set up to showcase its evolution and the numerous initiatives that ROCKS has undertaken over the past decade. On top of this, charitable organisations including Rumah Ozanam, Rumah Siraman Kasih and Zomi Education Centre were invited to set up their own booths to raise funds for their respective homes. These homes are amongst those currently supported by the Nestlé ROCKS monthly food contribution programme, which channels food product necessities on a monthly basis to charitable homes and organisations.

“We are delighted to be involved on this special day and we sincerely appreciate Nestlé’s support. A big thank you to the Nestlé ROCKers for their commitment to helping those in need. It is indeed a privilege to be a beneficiary under this programme and we are most grateful for Nestlé’s contributions to our organisation. I hope that Nestlé will continue to uphold its tradition of creating value to benefit even more disadvantaged members of society,” said Pn. Hasnah bt Ismail, Manager of Rumah Siraman Kasih.

Over the past 10 years, the Nestlé ROCKS Programme has embarked on various initiatives to improve the lives of the less fortunate in society. Nestlé ROCKS has also organised a host of activities, including those during festive seasons, such as old folks’ home visitations during the Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Hari Raya shopping for underprivileged children. Other notable activities include building homes for the Orang Asli settlements, conducting river clean-ups and organising cook-outs to serve food to the underprivileged in society.
