NESTLÉ Reaffirms Investment Commitments In Malaysia

NESTLÉ Malaysia today reaffirmed its investment commitments to Malaysia, following the groundbreaking ceremony for its latest facility in Shah Alam. At a meeting with Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry, Jose Lopez, Executive Vice President, Nestlé S.A., Operations and GLOBE further reiterated the Company’s commitment and discussed NESTLÉ’s future investments in Malaysia. The discussion with Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed was also attended by Y.A.M Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Anwar Jamalullail, Chairman of NESTLÉ(Malaysia) Berhad and Alois Hofbauer, Region Head for NESTLÉ Malaysia/Singapore.

NESTLÉ has long been a part of the Malaysian economic and social landscape, and since it started operations in the country more than 100 years ago, the Company has benefitted from Malaysia’s favourable economic environment, which is a result of the positive government policies that encourages and supports trade, locally and internationally.

In his speech at the World Halal Forum in April 2013, the Minister paid due recognition to NESTLÉ’s contribution to the country, particularly in the area of Halal development. It manufactures more than 600 halal products for both the domestic and export markets, and with global demand for Halal products expected to grow significantly, NESTLÉ’s investments in its manufacturing facilities in Malaysia has proven to be well founded. Further increasing its manufacturing capacity will not only see large investments coming in, but will also result in increasing the potential for growth in the export of Halal products and cementing Malaysia as a global Halal hub.

The groundbreaking ceremony of NESTLÉ Sri Muda Factory will see the start of the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Shah Alam, which will produce a variety of ready-to-drink liquid beverages to cater for the growing demand in the local market. The facility will be fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology that would optimise capacity and efficiency, thus ensuring higher productivity.

This factory, which represents RM150 million investments by NESTLÉ Malaysia, is testament to the Company’s commitment to continue investing in the country and support the Government in its vision towards attaining a developed nation status by 2020. The leading Food, Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company has invested close to a billion Ringgit in the last 5 years.

The Company not only provide benefits to the local community through providing job opportunities at its offices and factories, but also through the quality products that it produces and initiatives that positively impacts the society. It currently employs more than 6,000 employees and has seven factories and a National Distribution Centre in Malaysia.

With Malaysia’s continued resilient economy and growing consumer demand for its products, NESTLÉ is in a good position to capitalise on these aspects through continued innovation and renovation of its product portfolio.
