My first taste on triathlon race was Desaru-Pengerang Long Distance 2008. Got 1pc of PowerBar Performance in the race pack. After the 2km swim, I took half of the PowerBar before the 90km bike. During the bike, other than water, I only had a cup of 100+ and 1pc of banana. Pedaling a mountain bike for 90km was torturing. Then, the last leg - 21km of running. For the first 4km, I still managed to jog slowly, but soon found myself almost totally drained out. It was only the mind power that kept me walking. I need more that mind power to complete my first triathlon. I realized that I’d forgot to take the other half of my PowerBar. Upon completing the first loop, I did a pit stop to take the PowerBar. The half bar really revived me. After gulped down 2 cups of water, I was able to run again and completed my maiden triathlon race. Never do it again… without PowerBar!
