Nestlé Lights up the Lives of Employees and the Underprivileged this Deepavali

In the spirit of welcoming the Festival of Lights, the nation’s leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness company held a double celebration with its Nestlé family members as well as the children from the Siddharthan Care Centre, one of Nestlé Malaysia’s beneficiaries.

Nestlé Malaysia’s employees of various races, religions and nationalities came together as one to celebrate the festivities which were held to celebrate the spirit of Deepavali at its Head Office at Surian Tower, to enjoy a delectable Indian buffet spread which included Moghul cashew nut & raisins pulao (rice), vegetable dalcha, chicken chilli varuval, fish methi and aloo ghobi.

To further encourage employees to learn about the significance of the Festival of Lights, the Company organised a ‘Best Decorated Floor’ competition, which saw each department beautifying their respective floors with an array of colours and ornaments in true Deepavali flair.

During the second half of the day, the ‘Reaching Out to Community and Kids’ (ROCKS) Employee Volunteer Programme invited 14 children from the Siddharthan Care Centre to join in the festivities, who were treated to a fun filled day. A fun filled activity was planned  for the children, which involved creating a vibrant Deepavali banner with their handprints, together with Nestlé employee volunteers, fondly known as ‘ROCKers’.

Also present at the event was Managing Director, Alois Hofbauer who joined in the fun in putting the finishing touches to a kolam designed exclusively for the event. The event was made even more memorable when the home was presented with a washing machine, an item which they had expressed the need for.
