MAGGI® Gawai contest ends with exciting finale

MAGGI® saw its Nikmati Mi MAGGI® & Menang Kaamatan contest come to a close today as its Sabah finalists went through one last set of challenges to determine the Grand Prize winner of a pick-up truck.

MAGGI® launched the contest in May and embarked on a series of roadshows to create some memorable moments with the family and the community for the consumers. Shoppers who purchased MAGGI® noodles during the contest period stood a chance of winning great prizes including weekly cash rewards.

The contest received overwhelming response from Sabahans and drew thousands of entries received within the six-week contest period which ended on 11 June 2015.

The big finale took place today at 1Borneo Hypermall and was attended by Tuan Joaanes Solidau, Deputy Director of Operations, Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu.

The Nikmati Mi MAGGI® & Menang Kaamatan contest required consumers to answer three questions and submit the contest form along with a proof of purchase, which were the inner/individual wrappers of MAGGI® 2-Minute Noodles/MAGGI® Big or MAGGI® Royale Noodles. The first stage saw 10 weekly prizes of RM300 each being given away every week for the duration of the contest. These six finalists were later selected for this final stage :

  1. Lim Siu Yin, 54, from Kota Kinabalu
  2. Faizal Ilham bin Khamis, 34, from Kota Kinabalu
  3. Ramilah binti Ahmad, 46, from Bongawan
  4. Chong Moi Lan, 51, from Kudat
  5. Tian Hon Vui @ Philip Tian, 67, from Kota Kinabalu
  6. Mohd Salih Bin Senawi, 63, from Sandakan

For the first round of the competition, which was the MAGGI® Mi Goreng Challenge, the finalists had to cook their own versions of MAGGI® Mi Goreng and the dishes were then judged and scores given based on taste and presentation, which took into account proper cooking methods and the visual appeal.

The second round then saw the finalists trying to solve cube puzzles to form two visuals of MAGGI® products as fast as possible to win the second challenge.

The third round, the MAGGI® Kari Ingredients Hunt, required the finalists to memorise various spices and herbs used in MAGGI® 2-Minute Kari Noodles and then search for them in the quickest time.

Faizal Ilham bin Khamis was announced the winner of the Nikmati Mi MAGGI® & Menang 2015 Kaamatan with the highest number of points accumulated from all three rounds and went home with a Toyota Hilux Double Cab 2.5g pick-up truck. The runners-up were Lim Siu Yin and Ramilah binti Ahmad, each took home the Second Prize of Honda Wave 110 DX motorcycle while the remaining finalists, Tian Von Hui @ Philip Tian, Mohd Salih bin Senawi and Chong Moi Lan each walked away with the Third Prize of a 50-inch LED television sets.

The Nikmati Mi MAGGI® & Menang Kaamatan contest finale is part of the MAGGI® carnival which began on Friday and ends on Sunday. Among of the activities that were featured at this carnival were cooking demonstrations and games for shoppers who purchased MAGGI® products to entitle them for exciting gifts. Visitors to the event will also get the chance to enjoy the taste of MAGGI® recipes during food-sampling activities at this event which ends on Sunday.

The MAGGI® carnival also includes a ‘Fresh From The Farm’ exhibition which highlights the process behind the production of MAGGI® Chilli Sauce, which is made from the freshest, highest quality home-grown Malaysian chillies.

Every delicious bottle of MAGGI® Chilli Sauce contains chillies supplied by local farmers in Kelantan to MAGGI® as part of the Nestlé Chilli Club (NCC) contract farming scheme – the new MAGGI® Chilli Sauce packaging puts the spotlight on these local farmers and the “fresh from the farm” chillies.
