Get healthy without hitting the gym

Joining a gym can help everyone to start adopting a healthier lifestyle. However, memberships can be expensive. But there’s good news! There are plenty of other ways to keeping fit without having to set foot in the gym and straining your budget.

  • Pick up an exercise video
Choose from a wide choice of aerobic and dance routines to slower stretching and yoga workouts. It’s an excellent way to ease yourself into a comfortable exercising regime.
  • Grab a skipping rope
Skipping is an excellent way to burn off body fat. Just 30 minutes a day is all it takes. It's a great all-over body workout because you are building up muscle in your legs, calves, arms and shoulders.
  • Keep walking
Brisk walking is the simplest and most effective way form of exercise. It builds leg strength and tones the hips and bum. Decide how you can include more walking into your daily life. Whether it’s walking to the convenience store, taking the stairs instead of the lift or even just walking to lunch.
  • Invest in a game console
The Nintendo Wii is an excellent game console that simulates a number of different activities. Wii Sports include games such as boxing, tennis, baseball and golf. Or get the Wii Fit which comes with aerobics, fitness training and, yes, yoga. The great thing about having this at home is that it’s a hassle-free, plug and play device that the whole family, regardless of age, can get into. Remember that getting in shape doesn’t have to mean long stretches of extreme exercise. To really become healthier and stronger you should try to make your life in general more active.
