MILO Collects 2.7 Million Units of Energy to Fuel the Malaysian Contingent to the 2013 27th Sea Games

MILO today officially handed-over 2.7 million units of energy collected from the support pledged by Malaysians throughout the MILO Flame of Energy initiative to fuel the Malaysia contingent at the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar.

National Sports Council (NSC) director general, Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong accompanied by Dato' Wira Amiruddin Embi, Chef de Mission of the Malaysia SEA Games Contingent, received the torch signifying the MILO Flame of Energy that was passed on by Executive Director of Dairy Business Unit, Nestle Malaysia, Ho Hau Chieh.

This meaningful event was witnessed by the entire Malaysian contingent who was gathered to prepare for their journey at the SEA Games.

The MILO Flame of Energy initiative was launched in November which calls upon Malaysians to pledge their support the Malaysia Contingent heading for the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar by lighting and spreading the flame of a virtual torch via MILO's website.

Under the initiative, MILO deployed its familiar Energy Trucks across the nation in uniting the nation to show their support for the Malaysia Contingent with torch relay runs at selected locations around Malaysia, as well as collected pledges at the recent Penang Bridge International Marathon.

"Our athletes' journey will not be easy and it is important that the athletes receive all the support and encouragement from the nation to fuel their journey, giving them the energy to go further during the 27th SEA Games," said Ho Hau Chieh, Executive Director of Dairy Business Unit, Nestle Malaysia.

"I am thankful and proud of my fellow Malaysians for coming together with MILO to show our overwhelming support to our beloved athletes," he further adds.

Speaking at the auspicious event, Chief de Mission Dato' Wira Amirruddin Embi said, "With MILO and the nation behind them, I believe our athletes will be prepared both mentally and physically in their quest to bring honor and glory to Malaysia,"

All the athletes in the Malaysian contingent received the encouragement from Malaysians in the form of a MILO 'energy pack' that contains essential items such as nutritious MILO beverage that will ensure the athlete has the energy to go further throughout the SEA Games.

To continue fueling and showing our support, fellow Malaysians can continue to pledge their 'flames' and well wishes to the athletes on the milo website throughout the games until the 22nd of December 2013.
