Extending a Helping Hand to Flood Victims

Back to Press releases
Twelve of Nestlé sampling vans were deployed to provide nourishment to those affected at the relief centres.
In response to the country’s flood in the east coast states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang, Nestlé is extending a helping hand to our fellow Malaysians who are in dire need of help.

Nestlé Malaysia’s relief efforts include, amongst others:

IMMEDIATE FOOD AID

Upon hearing the news, we immediately deployed our MAGGI sampling vans to provide some nourishment to those affected at the relief centres, serving products such as MAGGI Hot Cups. So far, we have provided nearly 10,000 MAGGI Hot Cups at relief centres in Pahang and Kelantan.

In addition to the MAGGI sampling vans, MILO, NESCAFÉ and NESTLÉ Breakfast Cereals sampling vans have also been deployed.

Various Nestlé products have been donated, including more than 50,000 MAGGI Hot Cups to Media Prima via Jom Heboh, where the event is now being held as a donation drive. In addition, Nestlé will also be conducting charity sales of MAGGI Hot Cups at our Jom Heboh booth where all proceeds will be channeled to the flood donation collection.

Currently, more than 35,000 MAGGI Hot Cups are being sent to the East Coast and Northern Region to replenish our stocks.

This would mean that almost 100,000 MAGGI Hot Cups have been provided to nourish those in need!

DONATION DRIVE BY EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME

Charity begins at home. Through the Nestlé Reaching Out Community & Kids (ROCKS) Employee Volunteer Programme, our volunteers had organised a donation drive of essential items. Working together with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS), we identified a few key items for the employees to donate, i.e. rice, towels, pillows and hygiene items such as toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and shampoo, sanitary napkins and diapers etc.

A collection centre was set up at the Head Office for employees to drop off these items, which was then sent to MRCS for their onward distribution to the relief centres.

On 31 December 2014, after sorting and packing the donated items, our volunteers delivered the following to MRCS:

  • 96 sacks of rice
  • 27 pillows
  • 42 boxes of hygiene parcels
  • 12 boxes of miscellaneous items

The ROCKS Employee Volunteer Programme has also begun collecting cash donations from the employees to be channeled to the flood victims, including our employees affected and their families.
