The Paediatric Ward of University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) was filled with cheer today, as Nestlé Malaysia paid a special visit to the children there for its Reaching Out to Community and Kids (ROCKS) Employee Volunteer Programme.
Nestlé Malaysia organised a donation drive amongst their employees for children’s books and toys over the last two weeks, collecting over 300 books, toys, and board games for UMMC. Following the collection period, the employee volunteers, fondly known as Nestlé ROCKers, personally delivered the educational material to the children.
The items were donated to UMMC’s School in Hospital, which provides educational facilities to children who are receiving treatment in UMMC, and to the Paediatric Ward. During the visit, Nestlé ROCKERS also spent quality time with the children, bringing along stationery items and balloons to create a festive afternoon for the kids to enjoy.
In line with its commitment to making meaningful contributions to society, the Nestlé ROCKS Programme aims to enrich the lives of those in need, in the community. The programme provides an avenue for the employees of Nestlé Malaysia to involve themselves in the Company’s community initiatives and do their part for society.
Zainun Nur Abdul Rauf, Executive Director of Group Corporate Affairs, Nestlé Malaysia, said, “We are pleased to have had such a positive response from Nestlé staff for the donation drive. It was a heart-warming experience to see the joy in the children’s faces during our visit. Nestlé’s philosophy of Creating Shared Value (CSV) is a fundamental part of our way of doing business, and we firmly believe in the importance of reaching out to the community in which we operate. This has been at the heart of the Nestlé ROCKS programme since it was established 10 years ago, and we are glad our employees are embracing this and actively participating. We look forward to more opportunities to continue touching lives and making a positive difference.”
Sister Zarina Bt. Yaakob, Ward Manager, UMMC, said, “This is a very meaningful gesture from Nestlé Malaysia. Along with the generous donation of books and toys, the fact that the volunteers personally visited the children and spent the afternoon with them really meant the world to them. We would like to sincerely thank Nestlé Malaysia for all the effort they have put into this for the kids.”
