PETALING JAYA, 13 NOVEMBER, 2020 - MAGGI® saw 905 Malaysian women participated in the three-day Bengkel Online Wanita Cukup Berani MAGGI® , which aims to impart knowledge and insights in the areas of confidence enhancement, digital upskilling, entrepreneurship as well as cooking skills. From the workshop participants, three mentees will be selected for the coveted one-on-one Mentorship Programme with successful entrepreneurs and personalities such as Actress, Entrepreneur, Food Enthusiast and Brand Ambassador for MAGGI® CukupRasa Datin Paduka Eina Azman; Director, Producer, Actress and Owner of The Dim Sum Place Sheila Rusly; Young Entrepreneur Icon 2019 and Owner of My Mum’s Bakery Anne Idris.

The series of online workshops were held in September and October, following the recent launch of the Program Mentor Wanita Cukup Berani MAGGI® , a nationwide programme organised by MAGGI® in collaboration with Google Malaysia via Women Will, a Grow with Google programme. There are two components in the Program Mentor Wanita Cukup Berani MAGGI® which are the series of online workshops as well as the personal mentorship programme.

During the three-day Bengkel Online Wanita Cukup Berani MAGGI® , participants learnt about increasing their self-awareness, building self-confidence as well as improving communication skills be it verbal or written communication such as writing better e-mails. Through the partnership with Google Malaysia, participants learn the know-hows of starting a business using Google platforms and tools as well as documents management that improves the efficiency of their business. Participants also gained tips on how to better market their products and services using digital platforms and ways to manage the financial aspect of the business more effectively. Lastly, participants were given the opportunity to learn new cooking skills from MAGGI® Chef, Chef Muluk, on food safety, food preparation and storage process as well as how to prepare meals in large quantities to achieve economies of scale.

According to Geetha K Balakrishna, Business Executive Officer, MAGGI® , Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, “Community support is truly important for us, especially during this critical time where families are impacted in various ways due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Program Mentor Wanita Cukup Berani, MAGGI® seeks to empower and inspire women to achieve self-confidence so that they can take a step no matter how small to explore new areas, be it in life, in business or in cooking! The online workshops impart various entrepreneurial skills such as how to tap into digital platforms or tools to enhance businesses efficiencies and expand market reach for one’s products and services. Our MAGGI® Chef also shared useful cooking tips with the participants.

“MAGGI® aims to impact more women especially from the B40 communities and at the same time to develop the right modules which suit and fit the ever changing needs of these communities. The series of online workshops will continue into 2021,” added Geetha.

The Bengkel Online Wanita Cukup Berani MAGGI® received encouraging feedback from its participants as many were inspired to take the bold step of starting their own business, especially during this unprecedented time in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to financially sustain themselves as well as their families.

“I am fairly inexperienced when it comes to running a business. After participating in the Bengkel Online Wanita Cukup Berani MAGGI® , I’ve learned useful tips on how to sharpen my entrepreneurship skills, how to expand my customer reach and how to better manage the financial aspects of a business. I will definitely utilise some of these knowledge and learnings as I think about the next phase of my business,” said 33-year-old Afzuzilla Binti Mislan who is a homemaker and entrepreneur.

“Cooking is not something difficult. I have cooked without using measurements and what is important is that the dish fulfils my family’s tastes. Likewise, if you’re running a food business, you must also cater to the needs and requirements of your customers. So, do not be afraid to try something new or even a new recipe, because you will never know how the end results are, if you don’t even take the first step to try,” said Actress, Entrepreneur, Food Enthusiast and Brand Ambassador for MAGGI® CukupRasa, Datin Paduka Eina Azman.

The Program Mentor Wanita Cukup Berani MAGGI® is part of MAGGI® CukupRasa’s Tak Kenal Tak Cinta campaign, launched back in August 2019, that celebrates women who take their first step to try something new. The campaign is in line with its parent company, Nestlé Malaysia, where it believes in diversity and inclusion and encourages women from all walks of life to step out of their comfort zone to try something new and discover what they are truly capable of. Grounded in real-life stories, the campaign video (youtube.com/watch?v=WpUuTiAzEZs) features three inspirational Malaysian women whom have overcome challenging situations by having the courage to try something different, which ultimately led to a positive outcome in their lives.
