Back to Press releases

PETALING JAYA, JULY 31, 2023 – The nation’s largest breakfast movement, MILO Malaysia Breakfast Day (MBD) 2023, concluded with a two-day finale at Dataran Wawasan Putrajaya. The jam-packed gathering featured an exciting lineup of energetic and educational activities, including the iconic MILO Run. The run, which has won a mass loyal following over the years, has become a cherished tradition of MBD.

The event successfully united Malaysians from all walks of life in embracing healthier lifestyles through the promotion of nutritious diets and physical activity. The conclusion of the 2-day event in Putrajaya, which resulted in an impressive turnout of close to 50,000 participants, brought the 2023 edition of MBD to a memorable close, culminating in a grand total of approximately 60,000 participants across its three destinations - Putrajaya, Sabah and Sarawak.

A green wave of participants swept over MBD 2023A green wave of enthusiastic participants swept over MBD 2023, as nearly 50,000 participants gathered at Dataran Wawasan Putrajaya, united by a common goal of prioritising their health and fitness.

Beyond its ongoing advocacy to instil positive lifestyle values among Malaysians, MBD this year embraced a noble cause by ensuring that nutritious MILO products reached families in need. This saw MILO collecting contributions from participants of MBD 2023, who rallied together to donate MILO products from their MILO Run Entry Packs to B40 families.

Ng Su Yen, Business Executive Officer, MILO, Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, said "The exceptional turnout reinforces our belief that our community outreach efforts are yielding positive results in supporting healthier lifestyles. This is all the more important in light of the recent reports by the government that Malaysian teenagers are physically inactive or engage in fitness activities at a sedentary level. While this is concerning, Malaysians have continued to showcase great enthusiasm and commitment to improving their well-being as thousands of people came together to participate in MBD. Coupled with the contribution received for B40 families and knowledge-sharing on sustainability, MBD 2023 has indeed achieved its goal of nurturing good well-being.”

This year, MBD also brought an immersive 360° experience for MILO fans with the MILO Goodness Tour, a mobile MILO factory showcasing the process of how Malaysians’ favourite MILO beverage is produced. The experience enabled visitors to engage and learn about the goodness of MILO through a unique multimedia journey, gaining a deeper understanding of MILO's values and sustainability efforts.

YB Hannah Yeoh visiting MILO’s mobile factoryDay 2 of MBD saw Youth and Sports Minister, YB Hannah Yeoh, flagging off the 5KM & 3KM runners and later visiting MILO’s mobile factory, the MILO Goodness Tour to learn about MILO's values and sustainability efforts.

Additionally, as part of MILO’s sustainability initiatives, only paper cups and bowls were distributed during the event. This was in line with the brand’s ‘MILO Sayang Bumi’ initiative, which focuses on reducing plastic waste and promoting responsible waste management. MBD was indeed an ideal opportunity to instil a sense of responsibility among Malaysians while encouraging the adoption of more eco-friendly habits in their daily lives.

The highlight of the MILO Breakfast Day 2023 event in Putrajaya was the exhilarating 3KM and 5KM MILO Run held throughout the two-day event. Coupled with the MILO Goodness Tour experience, engaging activities, and interactive sessions, MBD 2023 effectively underscored the importance of nutrition, physical activity and environmental mindfulness among Malaysians.
