Total contribution of RM2 million to MRCS in 2024 for flood relief efforts
Kedah, September 24 2024 - Reflecting its commitment to give back to Malaysians in need, Nestlé Malaysia has once again joined hands with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) to support flood relief efforts amid the monsoon season. The annual initiative has begun in Kedah, where over 8,000 people are currently seeking aid at relief centres due to recent severe flooding.
Nestlé Malaysia and MRCS volunteers were mobilised on-ground to pack and distribute boxes of food aid containing essential Nestlé products such as MILO, MAGGI, KOKO KRUNCH, and NESTLÉ OMEGA PLUS at Temporary Relocation Centres (PPS) in Kedah, providing immediate sustenance to flood victims.
As part of Nestlé's ongoing support to flood relief efforts, the Company has contributed RM2 million to MRCS so far this year to be utilised to enhance flood preparedness measures for the current monsoon season.
Mr. Juan Aranols, Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Malaysia, said, "Our strong partnership with MRCS enables us to respond swiftly to the needs of flood-affected communities. Starting with Kedah, we stand ready to extend support where it is needed, reinforcing our commitment to being a force for good and uplifting Malaysians, especially during challenging times."
Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, Chairperson of MRCS, commented, “The strength of our collaboration with Nestlé Malaysia has been valuable in our mission to provide relief to those affected. Our joint efforts demonstrate how this enhances our capacity to provide timely, effective aid during critical periods. As we face the potential for wider flood impacts, this continued support is crucial in our efforts to assist affected communities throughout Malaysia."
Nestlé Malaysia remains dedicated to supporting Malaysian communities. The Company will continue to collaborate with MRCS to extend aid to flood-affected areas across the country. This ongoing commitment aligns with Nestlé's mission to continue to contribute positively to Malaysian society through the Company’s multiple CSR and ESG related initiatives.
