Malaysian Squash Player Sivasangari Subramaniam Joins Forces With MILO® to Advocate the Importance of Sports

Petaling Jaya, 20 August 2024 - In a homecoming that celebrates perseverance and nurturing youth sports talent, national squash player Sivasangari Subramaniam, 25, is joining forces with MILO® to advocate the importance of sports. This collaboration with MILO® marks a significant milestone in Sivasangari's journey as she reunites with the brand that has been instrumental in the development of her sporting career since her early days as a budding young athlete.

Sivasangari began her journey through the brand’s grassroots sports programs and has been actively involved in various MILO® - sponsored events since she was 10 years old. This includes her victories in the MILO® Nicol David Trophy in both the individual and team categories for under-12, as well as the MILO® All-Stars International under-13 championship in 2011. At age 13, she emerged as the champion in the MILO®- Sport Excel 2nd Leg under-19 category in 2012. Her remarkable achievements earned her the title of “Most Promising Female Athlete” in the 2011 MOE-MSSM-MILO® Awards, a long-standing collaborative effort between MILO®, the Ministry of Education and the Malaysia School Sports Council. These accolades are a testament to her talent and drive, which have been championed by the brand.

As a friend of MILO®, Sivasangari will have part of her training and fees supported by MILO®, with the aim of supporting her training journey to participate in the 2028 Olympics, where squash, for the first time ever, will be an Olympic sport.

The recently announced world No 10. squash player expressed her excitement to say, “I am so grateful for this collaboration with MILO®, who have been a tremendous source of support and an inspiration from my early days in squash, helping me to develop both as an athlete and an individual both direct and indirectly.”

“From a young age, I have witnessed how MILO® has supported numerous sporting events, including squash, and their commitment continues till today. It's a full-circle moment for me to be reunited with a brand that has been a part of my journey from the very beginning!"

To celebrate the partnership, MILO® has released a teaser video featuring the young athlete as she prepares for training. The video also sees Abang MILO® offering her a nutritious cup of MILO® from the iconic MILO® truck, with the captions appearing in the video, "Bersama kita menyokong atlet masa depan, Malaysia Boleh!" or “Together with MILO®, let’s support the futures of athletes together, Malaysia Boleh!”.
