Climate Action in Manufacturing and Logistics

While most of our emissions come from our agriculture supply chain, through our efforts in our operations and our partnerships with logistics suppliers, we are continuing on the road to net zero.

In our operations - across our manufacturing sites, distribution centers and head office - we are working to increase the sourcing of renewable electricity. We are also seeking partnership with logistics suppliers to develop a leaner network intended to support emissions reductions, while pursuing Scope 1 emissions reductions in our direct operations and efficiencies throughout our value chain

Our Progress

All Nestlé Malaysia manufacturing sites, distribution centres and head office. 100% renewable electricity

Using more renewable thermal energy - To support our journey towards net zero, we invested RM18 million in a biomass boiler at our Chembong Factory in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. Operational since late 2023, the boiler uses renewable biomass sources, including oil palm empty fruit bunches and palm kernel shells, to generate steam for our manufacturing processes, reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Developed in partnership with ENCO Systems Sdn. Bhd., the facility is equipped with electrostatic precipitators to filter emissions and is expected to reduce net carbon emissions by approximately 14,000 tonnes annually. In addition, the ash generated is repurposed as fertiliser, supporting a more circular use of resources.
