Nestlé Malaysia Continues to Lead Fight Against Plastic Waste

We at Nestlé are on a journey to preserve the environment and work together towards a greener future for all. Nestlé Malaysia’s volunteering efforts continue to lead the way in our ongoing fight against plastic waste.

In October 2022, we mobilised almost 500 volunteers in a beach cleanup effort across six beaches and two underwater locations, namely in Selangor, Penang, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan & Sabah. The annual programme which first begun in 2018 aims at primarily raising awareness among our employees on the importance of responsible waste disposal and its impact on the planet

Almost 4 tonnes of waste were recovered, separated, for recycling and disposal. In addition, 110 corals were planted in Pulau Mabul under expert supervision, as part of reef conservation activities.

The locations of waste collection are as follows:

The beach cleanup activity is an annual programme under Nestlé’s global employee volunteer initiative, Nestlé Cares. Nestlé Cares aims to instil a culture of volunteerism amongst employees across the various Nestlé markets, and raise awareness and educate on the responsible disposal of plastic and other forms of waste. A total of 12.4 tonnes of waste have been recovered in the annual beach and underwater cleanup efforts since its inception in 2018.
